Facing the growing energy demands of today's world, Rosebank Garden Centre took charge by embracing a visionary EV charging project. This forward-looking initiative signals a trend that's set to redefine the landscape of sustainable transportation.
Over the past decade, Rosebank Garden Centre has evolved and expanded, necessitating greater energy resources. Yet, upon closer examination by our engineers, a critical challenge emerged – the existing electrical capacity fell short of supporting a fast EV charging solution. While considering a 7.4kW option, Connekt's experts acknowledged that the average 2-3 hour business dwell time hardly justified such a choice, especially considering the 12-hour typical charging duration from this type of system.
Connekt's grid connection team stepped in to address the power gap. By orchestrating a 200amp power surge from the on-site substation, strategically encased in a watertight housing, they exemplified innovation and precision. Collaborating closely with Rosebank Garden Centre, Connekt ensured seamless correspondence with Scottish Power Network (SPN) and the Distribution Network Operator (DNO). Expert groundwork specialists undertook trenching from the substation to the containment's new location, accommodating the additional CT meter, electricity meter, and new EV charging switchgear.
Connekt's installation experts proposed a transformative solution – the integration of two 22kW dual socket fast chargers into the Get Connekted App and network. This integration empowers up to 4 customers to simultaneously charge their EVs. Beyond this, the garden centre extends preferential EV charging rates to its customers via the app, while guests can access a fair tariff. This amenity caters to eco-conscious EV drivers, offering a seamless charging experience amidst Rosebank Garden Centre's charming facilities.
The new charging network seamlessly aligns with Connekt's software, ensuring remote charger status management 24/7, 365 days a year. This commitment to excellence sustains an impressive 99% charger uptime, strengthened by unwavering customer service.

Our 22kw charging solution, based on an average 2 hour charging time offers roughly 180 miles of range – perfect for topping up your car charge whilst visiting the garden centre. In addition to providing a convenient charging solution for visitors, our charging solution has helped with meeting meet their net zero and sustainability commitments. The chargers are connected to our back office system, with drivers signing up via our Get Connekted app.
This allows the business to manage and monitor their charging infrastructure, run reports and generate additional revenue by setting preferential tarrifs and rates to suit their needs with members and visitors having the options to gain preferential charging rates via the Get Connekted app or quick pay via the quick pay QR option (via Apple Pay / Google Pay).
