Cameron House Hotel & Resort, a premier luxury destination located on the scenic shores of Loch Lomond, is committed to providing exceptional experiences to its guests while embracing sustainability.

As part of their ongoing efforts to enhance guest services and support eco-friendly travel, Cameron House recently partnered with Connekt to install a cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across their expansive resort.

The project involved installing 24 EV chargers across four strategic locations, tailored to meet the specific needs of hotel guests, VIPs, staff, and golfers.

By integrating high-performance chargers that match the typical "dwell" times of users in each area, Cameron House has futher elevated its position at the forefront of sustainable luxury in the hospitality industry.

The Solution

The main challenge of this project was to seamlessly integrate the EV charging infrastructure into the resort's landscape while maintaining a balance between aesthetics and functionality. The charging stations needed to be conveniently located, easy to use, and offer various charging speeds to cater to different types of users, from short-stay visitors to staff on extended shifts.

Key challenges included:

  • Strategic Placement: Ensuring that each location offered chargers that matched the typical dwell times of users.
  • Balancing Aesthetics and Functionality: Integrating the chargers into the resort’s existing architecture and landscape without compromising on style or guest experience.
  • Providing Optimal Charging Solutions: Selecting chargers that cater to the specific needs of guests, staff, and VIPs.

To address these challenges, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the resort's layout, user demographics, and usage patterns. Based on this analysis, we installed a mix of fast and rapid chargers across four key locations within the resort:

  1. Carpark 1
    • Installation: 4x dual 22kW fast chargers (8 charging bays)
    • Purpose: Designed for guests who spend a couple of hours at the resort. These chargers provide an 80% charge in just 2 hours, ideal for guests enjoying a meal, spa session, or other resort amenities.
  2. VIP Carpark
    • Installation: 3x 40kW rapid chargers + 1x 22kW fast charger (8 charging bays)
    • Purpose: These high-speed chargers cater to VIP guests and valet operations, allowing quick turnarounds and ensuring vehicles are ready promptly. The setup allows valet staff to efficiently manage guest vehicles, enhancing the overall VIP experience.
  3. Staff Carpark
    • Installation: 2x 7.4kW dual chargers (4 charging bays)
    • Purpose: Designed for staff members, these chargers offer a full charge during a typical work shift, providing convenience and supporting the resort’s commitment to employee welfare.
  4. Carrick Golf Club
    • Installation: 2x dual 22kW fast chargers (4 charging bays)
    • Purpose: Ideal for golfers who can charge their vehicles while playing a round. These chargers ensure that vehicles are ready when the game ends, combining leisure with convenience.
