Located in Coupar Angus, The Red House Hotel has been welcoming guests for decades and remains the town’s last remaining hotel. Family-run for over forty years, the hotel serves not only overnight guests, but also golfers, day visitors, and the wider local community.
As demand for electric vehicle charging continued to grow, the hotel partnered with Connekt to introduce on-site EV charging, enhancing convenience for visitors while supporting the transition to more sustainable travel.
The Red House Hotel had seen increasing demand from guests asking whether EV charging facilities would be added to the site.
Key considerations included:
As a rural hospitality venue with a large, accessible car park, the hotel recognised the opportunity to provide an important service not only for guests, but also for the wider community.
“We’re very pleased to be offering EV charging to the increasing number of hotel guests, golfers, and day visitors travelling in electric vehicles. David and the Connekt team have done a great job — not only installing the chargers, but providing plenty of information and making the whole process straightforward. Everything is covered through charger revenue with no ongoing expenses for us at all. The chargers are easy and convenient to use, and we’re confident they’ll be very well used in the months ahead.”

Connekt delivered a tailored EV charging solution designed to support both hospitality and community use.
The installation included:
The project was fully funded, with Connekt managing the process from application through to installation and commissioning.
In addition to installation, Connekt provided:
